EXSET

Prof. Kerstin Lemke-Rust is the project leader for the project EXSET (Excellence in Security Evaluation Testing) at the Department of Computer Science at BRSU that is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with a running time of three years (until summer 2013).

The objective is to increase security for users of smart cards and systems that are secured by card chips and also for a large number of German industries. These will benefit not only through improved IP protection and manipulation security, but can increase their international competitiveness long-term through high-security products.The aim is to develop practice orientated measurement and analysis systems for testing centres and to improve the test standards for safety evaluations German test laboratories.The test methods used in safety evaluations will be supplemented by penetration tests for advanced side channel attacks.

Project partners are the Ruhr-University Bochum and leading German testing laboratories of the TÜV Informationstechnik and the T-Systems International.
